Medical and Vision Plans
As an in-network eye care provider in Huntsville, we accept a variety of insurance plans and other payment options to help cover the cost of your eye care services. We are proud to be a Vision Service Plan (VSP) Premier Provider, meaning we have met the high standards of patient care set by VSP. If you don’t see your plan listed or are unsure about your coverage, our friendly staff will be happy to verify your benefits and explain your coverage.
Vision insurance vs. medical insurance
Understanding the difference between medical insurance and vision plans can help streamline the process of scheduling and paying for your next eye exam. Vision plans cover routine eye exams and prescription eyewear such as glasses and contact lenses. On the other hand, medical insurance is used for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of medical conditions affecting the eyes. This includes serious issues like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome.
Many medical insurance companies outsource their vision plans to separate providers. This means that while we may accept your medical insurance for exams and treatments, we may not be considered in-network providers for vision care, leading to unexpected out-of-pocket costs for patients. It’s always a good idea to check with your insurance company before your appointment to understand what is covered under both your medical and vision plans.
